URGENT! Windows Defender Scam

We have been assisting clients recently where we confirmed cyber criminals were fraudulently using trusted logos and company names to obtain information. As seen in the image above, this pop-up appears to come from Microsoft’s Windows Defender. However, the “Security Helpline” would connect you to someone just trying to steal your information. We encourage you to never call these phone numbers or give out any of your personal information, credentials, or other identity specifiers.

These pop-ups have been known to say things such as “Your accounts have been hacked” or “All your credit cards have been compromised.” These notifications are scare tactics to induce users to call their phone numbers.

If you receive a message like this, or you fear that you had suspicious activity on your computer, please contact us immediately at help@yougetit.net. We will be glad to help and advise you on next steps.
